Audiencia final

¡Los invitamos a que participen en la audiencia final del TPP!

Hace algunos días tuvimos la oportunidad de reunirnos en los Estados Unidos con diferentes sindicatos, con la AFL CIO en su congreso realizado en Filadelphia (Pennsylvania), con organizaciones sociales y defensoras de derechos humanos, comunidades religiosas, partidos políticos, congresistas, concejales y activistas solidarios con Colombia.

Estos fueron los principales objetivos:

1. Establecer y fortalecer los nexos y el apoyo internacional necesario para desarrollar la lucha de los trabajadores y el pueblo colombiano.

2. Aportar al trabajo que un número importante de organizaciones sociales y no gubernamentales vienen realizando para impedir la aprobación del tratado de libre comercio, hoy congelado.

3. Fortalecer la solidaridad del movimiento sindical de los Estados Unidos con el movimiento obrero y sindical colombiano, ante la continuidad de los asesinatos, amenazas y destierro contra la dirigencia y membresía.

4. Posicionar el Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos como proceso de visibilización y juzgamiento de la política de las transnacionales en Colombia y obtener que una delegación importante de ese país nos acompañe en la audiencia final. Es una buena oportunidad para lograr el apoyo con la fase de exigibilidad que se activará el 23 de julio de 2008 y que pretende obtener un cambio profundo de la política de las ETN, que garantice el respeto a la vida y a los derechos humanos del pueblo de Colombia.

A través del este proceso avanzamos en la visibilización de las relaciones entre el paramilitarismo, las transnacionales y la política de impunidad y terror del estado colombiano.  La búsqueda de la verdad, la justicia y la reparación integral es su propósito principal. Varias transnacionales han sido acusadas ante el Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos Sesión Colombia, por su responsabilidad en el asesinato de dirigentes sindicales  y por la violación a la libertad sindical y al derecho de asociación.

5. Posicionar la iniciativa “Contra la guerra de las transnacionales: campaña por soberanía, democracia, paz y bienestar para los colombianos y por la integración latinoamericana". Fortalecer la campaña contra ¡Por que amo la vida…no consumo Coca Cola! ante el fracaso de los diálogos con la transnacional.

Estas fueron las iniciativas que les pedimos apoyar en esta coyuntura:

1. Apoyar la “Jornada nacional de los pueblos en resistencia por la vida y la permanencia en el territorio" que se realizará del 16 de julio al 15 de agosto. Un buen número de compañeros/as de varios países de Europa y América Latina nos acompañarán y participaran en las audiencias del TPP y viajarán a las regiones para tener un contacto directo con las comunidades y sus organizaciones. En este marco realizarán los días 17 y 18 de julio “el encuentro internacional de luchas por la resistencia”, convocado por la Red de Hermandad y Solidaridad con Colombia.

Muchos de los delegados que viajarán desde EU llegarán a Colombia el 15 y permanecerán hasta el 24 de julio.

2. Participar en el Foro de Resistencias Indígenas Latinoamericanas, que se realizará en Valledupar el 17 de julio de 2008.

3. Participar en la audiencia sobre genocidio indígena que tendrá lugar en la Sierra Nevada de Santamarta (Atanques – territorio de la comunidad Kankuama) los días 18 y 19 de julio de 2008.

4. participar en la audiencia final o deliberante del Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos que se realizará en Bogotá del 21 al 23 de julio de 2008.

5. Realizar presentaciones de protesta y exigibilidad por el respeto a los derechos humanos de la población colombiana en cada una de las casas matrices de las trasnacionales que están siendo juzgadas en Colombia, ejemplo: en Atlanta en Coca Cola; en Los Ángeles en la OXI, el Cincinnati Chiquita Brands,  etc. En próximos días estaremos enviando el listado de las transnacionales y las ciudades respectivas.

El 22 de julio realizaremos por las calles de Bogotá un gran movilización  donde denunciaremos las relaciones paramilitarismo-transnacionales - parapolítica.

6. EL 23 de julio de 2008, realizar un boicot de 24 horas, como rechazo y condena a los crímenes cometidos por las transnacionales. Le solicitaremos al sindicato de los portuarios no recibir productos ni materias primas de transnacionales que están siendo juzgadas en Colombia (carbón, petróleo, aceite de palma, etanol, flores), a la AFL CIO le pedimos apoyar la iniciativa como parte de la gran solidaridad que realiza con el movimiento sindical colombiano y con el pueblo de Colombia al oponerse al tratado de libre comercio, a las demás organizaciones les hemos pedido unirse a esta gran jornada por la vida de nuestros hombres y mujeres y la existencia de las organizaciones.

7. Les pedimos a las organizaciones, partidos políticos, comunidades religiosas y personalidades, ser convocantes adherentes al Tribunal Permanente de los Pueblos. Quien convocó es la Fundación Lelio Basso de Italia, centenares de organizaciones nacionales e internacionales serán convocantes adherentes. 

Les reiteramos nuestros sentimientos por la solidaridad con el pueblo de Colombia y sus luchas.

Warm greetings dear friends, 

First  of all, I would like to, in the name of Sinaltrainal and the other organizations that are organizing the Permanent Peoples Tribunal -Colombia session, send our embrace of unity and to thank you for the immense support and solidarity that you offered me during  my visit to the United States.

These were the main objectives of my visit:

 1. To establish and strengthen the links and the international support necessary for the development of the struggle of the workers and people of Colombia.

 2. To contribute to the work that an important number of social and non- governmental organizations are doing to prevent the approval of the Free Trade Agreement, frozen as of today.

 3. To strengthen the solidarity of the labor union movement in the United States with the workers' and labor union movement in Colombia, in the face of the continuity of murders, threats and exile against the union leadership and membership.

 4. To position the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal as a process of exposure and  condemnation of the policy of the transnational companies in Colombia and to make sure that an important delegation of your country accompanies us in the final  hearing. It is a good opportunity to get the support in this phase of sentencing that  will take place on July 23 of 2008 which tries to attain a profound change in the  policy of the ETN (Transnational Enterprises) that guarantees the respect of life and human rights of the peoples of Colombia.

 Through this process we bring forward the exposure of the relations between paramilitarism, transnational corporations and the policy of impunity and terror of the Colombian state.  The search for truth, justice and complete reparations are its  main purpose. Several transnational corporations have been accused at the  Permanent Peoples Tribunal- Colombia Session, for their responsibility in the murder of union leaders and for the violation of union freedom and the right of association.

 5. To position the initiative “Against the war of the transnational corporations: campaign for sovereignty, democracy, peace and well-being for the Colombian people and for Latin American integration". To fortify the campaign "Because I love life I do not drink Coca Cola!" because of the failure of the negotiations with that  transnational company.

These were the initiatives that we requested support at this time:

 1. To support the “National Day of the peoples in resistance for their life and their permanence in their territory” that will take place from July 16 through August 15. A good number of compañeros/as from several countries of Europe and Latin America  will accompany us and will participate in the hearings of the PPT and will travel to  several regions to have a direct contact with the communities and their organizations. Within this frame “the International Gathering of the Struggles for Resistance” will be held on July 17th and 18th, called by the Network of  Brotherhood and Solidarity with Colombia.

So far the delegates who will travel from the EU will stay in Colombia from July 15-24.

 2.  To participate in the Forum of Latin American Indigenous Resistance, that will  take place in Valledupar (Cesar) on July 17 of 2008.
 
 3. To participate in the hearing on indigenous genocide that will take place in Sierra Nevada of Santamarta (Atanques - territory of the Kankuama community) on July 18 and 19 of 2008.

 4. To participate in the final or deliberative hearing of the Permanent Peoples Tribunal that will take place in Bogota from the 21 to the 23 of July 2008.

 5. To have  protests and to demand justice on Tuesday,  July 22 for  the respect to human rights of the Colombian peoples, in each one of the headquarters of the transnational  corporations that are being judged in Colombia; for example: Coca  Cola in Atlanta ; OXI in Los Angeles; Chiquita Brands in Cincinnati, etc. In THE next few days we will be sending the listing of the transnational companies and the  respective cities.

 6. On Tuesday July 22, we will have a mobilization in the afternoon from 4 on, on the streets of Bogota, denouncing the relations of Parapolitics, transnational corporations and paramilitarism; demanding truth, justice and complete reparations  and a radical change in the policy of the transnational corporations presently in  Colombia.

 7. On Wednesday July, 23 2008, will have a of 24 hour boycott, as a rejection and  condemnation of the crimes committed by the transnational corporations. We will  ask the Longshore unions  not to receive products, nor raw materials of  transnational companies that are being judged in Colombia (coal, petroleum, palm  oil, ethanol, flowers); from the AFL -CIO we request its support for the initiative as part of the great solidarity that it has shown  to the union movement and the  peoples of Colombia when it refused to back the Free Trade Agreement, demanding justice and the end to the assassination of union leaders; to the rest of  the organizations, we ask to join on this day on behalf of the lives of our men and  women and the existence of their organizations.

 8. We ask the political organizations, political parties, religious communities and  adherent personalities, to be part of the endorsing effort for the Permanent Peoples  Tribunal. Lelio Basso Foundation in Italy called for this action and hundreds of national and international organizations have adhered since then.

I reiterate the invitation so you accompany us on this day for the life and the search of truth, justice and complete reparations.
